The subject is Parkinsons Disease. I have to write an introductory essay exploring the issues of diagnosis (up to 750 words). I have been told I have to discuss and explore, and write in the 3rd person. What does all this mean? Also does anyone know of a set essay structure I can follow. I just need someone to point me in the right direction, as our tutor says he doesn’t want asking on how to do it!! – and I don’t know how to start it all.
Please help.

Role of Dopamine in Parkinsons Disease

The role of dopamine in Parkinsons disease is crucial. In fact, the main reason why the brain cannot have proper control of muscle movements is because of the deficiency of this neurotransmitter.

The disease is a result of the lack of dopamine, which leads difficulties in controlling muscular movements. Symptoms like tremors, muscle stiffness, and loss of balance could then be evident. Such symptoms are important to identifying the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s.

Dopamine is a chemical messenger responsible for exchanging signals from our brains to our muscles. The role of dopamine in Parkinsons disease basically prevents the brain from communicating properly with the muscles, hence problems in muscle control is experienced.

As a result of this deficiency, symptoms like stiffening of muscles, shaking or tremors, and even difficulties in moving may surface. Loss of balance, difficulty in walking and swallowing can also be experienced.

Because of the role of dopamine in Parkinson’s disease, treatment may include having to take drugs that increase the levels of dopamine in the body. However, this will only address the symptoms and not directly cure the illness.

Many are hoping nonetheless, that modern medicine will be able to find a cure or even a way of preventing the onset of such a condition, especially with the discovery on the role of dopamine in Parkinson’s disease.

With the knowledge of medicine on the role of dopamine in Parkinsons disease, we are not only provided with answers on how such a condition has existed, but a means for treatment as well. Hopefully, in the future this very same knowledge will pave the way for actually finding a cure for the disease and a way to change many lives for the better.

From what I read online the basic storyline is that the flux capacitor is what gives Marty Parkinsons disease and in the future they find the cure but need to bring it back to 1985. I think its cool that Michael J Fox can find a way to still act with his disease and even use it in the storyline. I have seen that its supposed to be released in 2012. Can anyone confirm this?
