You should check with your social services. Ours has a nursing program that helps in situations like this. They even set up their medications so that he wouldn't mess them up or forget to take them.
Our social services charges very minimal fees to the family because most of their funding comes from the county and state.
It may be worth looking into.
Good luck.

it seems that something has to be done. He obviously is not compitent to care for himself. Out of love you should look into whatever it takes to keep him safe. Even as he is attached to the house a nursing home may be the way to go.

Call his doctor and ask what services are available. You don't have to be indigent to get care at home. You might also try the Social Security Office and see what benefits he's eligible for. Is he a Veteran? If so, call the VA and ask them as well. Where did he work? He may be eligible for some benefit programs depending on how long he worked there. You'll be amazed at what you'll find; you just have to do some homework.

Call Visiting Nurse Association - they can make sure he gets his meds.
