Over the past 5 years, i haave thought that i had a brain tumor, diabetes, als, various cancers, aids/hiv, parkinsons disease, and melanoma(s), and a bunch of other stuff.. I do admit to watching every house episode, in addition to scrubs, and all other medical shows. I just found out that theres a condition that explains, that, called hypochondriasis. Anyone have any tips for me if i get anymore worried thoughts or breakdowns.
Also. i forgot to mention that i wanna be a doctor when i grow up, and i love reading and learning about medicine. Does that kind of “trap” me?

don’t watch house. I was a hypocondriac and everytime i watched a medical show it freaked me out because then i thought i had those diseases. just stop thinking about diseases and go for a check up every month.
Yeah stop watching TV and get a more productive hobby. Or go to med school and really become a great hypochondriac.
Try seeing a counselor. They can help you get over this.
I’m sorry but I find it a bit humorous and ironic that you are worried about having hypochondria, even though you admit to being one. Chill out. I know its something you cannot control, so maybe you should talk to someone about it?
oh and TV shows aren’t always valid btw.
well I was the same way, except I have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) my psychiatrist made me lick the bottom of my shoe (no lie) and nothing happened to me, and I’m not as much of a germ freak anymore. good luck
wow, you just figured this out? First off try watching less medical dramas which are completely ridiculous anyways. Find something else to think about and maybe you will worry less. Seek mental help?
Hypochodriasis is theorized to be a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which I myself suffer from. You may want to talk to a psychiatrist, and get some anti-depressants. Those worked for me.
Also, finding a friend who can empathize with you helps immensely.
See a therapist. I use to tbe the same way. I woudl read medical books and think that I had everything in it by just reading the symptoms. Your dr will be able to help you, possibly give you medication to help with it.
well.. mum rekons ive got the same coz i always fake sick…
+ i watch house n all those medical shows lol
my advice is to take heaps of pills so ur brain thinks that ur getting treated for everything.
lol
goodluck =]
