My dad is 56 and a little over a year ago he lost his Dad and his sister within a few months of each other and ever since then he has been moving really slow, and eating really slow..and just doesn’t seem himself. He talks fine, but just doesn’t seem nearly as energetic as he used to. We are not real super close to him and he is very private about his health, so when we have brought up to him that we are noticing the slow movements and stuff, he says it is back pain and nothing more. He won’t see a Dr. and wouldn’t tell us probably if he did, because he is private and wouldn’t want us to worry, but we really are getting really worried and are just looking into several different directions as to what may be the reason behind all this. I mean, it could be back pain, and he might even be taking pain pills and not telling us and I know that could cause slower actions. He doesn’t stutter, and he doesn’t shake or anything, and he has full use of his whole body, just so slow.

These are the characteristic symptoms of Parkinson’s disease:
They tremble involuntarily.
They find their muscles become rigid and stiff, and they lose their ability to make rapid, spontaneous movements.
They walk in a recognizable manner, with a typical gait in which the body is bent or flexed.
They may have difficulty maintaining their balance.
The characteristic symptoms of moderate Parkinson’s disease can be remembered with the acronym TRAP:
T-Tremor- Involuntary trembling of the limbs
R-Rigidity -Stiffness of the muscles
A-Akinesia- Lack of movement or slowness in initiating and maintaining movement
P-Postural instability -Characteristic bending or flexion of the body, associated with difficulty in balance and disturbances in gait
Early Signs and Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease
It is often difficult to pinpoint when a person with Parkinson’s first began showing signs and symptoms of the disease. Many people vividly recall when they first noticed their tremor, but through close questioning, the physician often finds that subtle signs of the disease were present even before the tremor became noticeable.
The following table lists some of the early signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease:
Change in ****** expression (staring, lack of blinking)
Failure to swing one arm when walking
Flexion (stooped) posture
“Frozen” painful shoulder
Limping or dragging of one leg
Numbness, tingling, achiness or discomfort of the neck or limbs
Softness of the voice
Subjective sensation of internal trembling
Resting tremor
Early signs of Parkinson’s are:
1. tremor that starts in one hand … eventually it appears in the other hand as well.
2. “stone face” … ie less expressive ****** features
3. slow movements
4. stiff movements, unsteady walking
5. trouble with fine objects like buttonning buttons
He might be in a depressive stage see if he likes to do the things he used to enjoy and if he doesn’t,get help.
watch for the tremor in the hand
it will shake only small amount

I had a uncle that i was talking too
his left hand was trembling only a small amount …it didnt stop ..it did it the whole time i talked to him..it was 2 years before he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s……..that was 11 years ago….it is very slow.
