Well Atrophy usually is a term to describe the partial or complete wasting away of a part of the body. Its hard to describe your case without specific details. I would strongly suggest you sit down, or call your doctor and discuss this issue. Doctors are generally very straight forward with patients and there issues. Hope this helped.

Muscle atrophy is simply the loss of muscle mass, which is what your doctor is referring to. The causes range from a sedentary lifestyle to neurogenic causes like Parkinson’s Disease. So, the prognosis is less related to the atrophy and more related to the cause (potentially in your case, Parkinson’s). Parkinson’s disease progresses at different rates for different people, and people respond very differently to the medications available. People with Parkinon’s develop balance problems and have jerky muscle movements and there can be some cognitive impairment, particularly pertaining to memory. First, I would find out if this is exactly what you have, and then ask your doctor about what this means for you.
